Nürburgring GT4 Germany review

The most successful weekend in the ADAC GT4 Germany lies behind ME Motorsport.

After the summer break, the ADAC GT4 Germany returned to the Nürburgring. As part of the DTM, the close-to-series GT racing series delighted over 62,000 spectators — ME Motorsport used two BMW M4 GT4s driven by team owner Markus Eichele and Philip Wiskirchen as well as Andreas Jochimsen and Thomas Rackl.

The BMW racing team from Schwäbisch Gmünd achieved their best result on Sunday. Eichele and his young team-mate Philip Wiskirchen finished the race in fourth place overall. Eichele thus also won the trophy classification, while Wiskirchen finished third in the junior classification. For ME Motorsport, this was the best result in the ADAC GT4 Germany. Thomas Rackl and his Scandinavian co-driver were also able to score important championship points in twelfth place.

Rackl and Jochimsen's big hour came on Saturday in a chaotic race, which had to be interrupted twice with the Red Flag due to heavy rainfall. Although the duo received a time penalty following a collision, they finished the race in sixth place and achieved their best result of the season so far. Eichele and Wiskirchen experienced a difficult race with several turners, so that it only reached 21st place in the overall standings.

“What a great weekend for us at the Nürburgring! Markus Eichele cheered after the race weekend. “In both races, we achieved strong results in the overall standings, which shows us that we are moving in a good direction with the entire team. Plus my victory in the trophy classification on Sunday and Philip's strong third place in the junior classification, which also makes us extremely proud. We can build on that for the remaining weekends! ”

Andreas Jochimsen and Thomas Rackl are in eleventh place in the overall standings after four race weekends, followed by Wiskirchen and Eichele in 16th place. Markus Eichele is also currently in third place in the trophy classification. In the strong junior standings, the two young drivers Thomas Rackl and Philip Wiskirchen are currently in seventh and eighth places.

The ADAC GT4 Germany continues on the last weekend in September at the Red Bull Ring in Austria. But before that, ME Motorsport will start on the GTC Race race weekend at Spa-Francorchamps.
